What are you passionate about, and how do you use your voice/talent to make a difference?
I’ve always had a passion for health and wellness. Through my volunteer efforts at Girls Inc., I’ve been able to share that passion by leading summer nutrition classes for girls in kindergarten through 12th grade. We discuss healthy eating, fueling our bodies, and making nutritious choices, then put those lessons into practice with a hands-on healthy recipe. But the best part happens after class—when I run into girls around Siouxland, and they proudly tell me about the healthy snacks they’re choosing or recipes they’ve made with their families. Being known as the healthy snack lady is a title I’ll gladly accept because it reminds me that these lessons are making a real difference.
What is your vision for the future of Siouxland?
My vision is to continue empowering the girls of Siouxland through Girls Inc. and beyond, helping them grow into strong, smart, bold, and healthy women who make a positive impact in our community, across the Midwest, and around the world.
What are you doing to make that happen?
Volunteering with Girls Inc. allows me to share my passion for health and wellness while empowering the next generation of Siouxland women. As a board member, I also have the opportunity to connect our community with the organization’s mission and demonstrate the lasting impact it has on the girls it serves. I hope to continue connecting girls to healthy resources and connecting the community to this amazing organization!
How can people help you make that happen?
The greatest way to support this vision is to believe in the potential of every girl and help create opportunities for young girls to thrive. Whether you volunteer, donate, become a mentor, attend an event, or simply spread the word about Girls Inc., your support helps ensure more girls have access to the resources, encouragement, and experiences they need to succeed. Together, we can build a stronger future for the next generation of Siouxland women.
What quote inspires you?
This isn’t a famous quote, but it’s one my mom repeated often throughout my childhood and still does to this day: “BE NICE.” It’s a simple message that has shaped who I am. People remember kindness, a smile, a helping hand, and someone who takes the time to listen. I strive to live those values every day, and I truly believe that leading with kindness has helped me build the relationships that have been instrumental in both my career and my involvement in the community.
