What are you passionate about, and how do you use your voice/talent to make a difference?
I am deeply committed to the growth and well-being of our community, with a strong passion for supporting those in need. I also prioritize my own personal and professional development, striving for continuous growth in both areas. Being part of a company that enables me to collaborate with various community organizations through fundraising is incredibly rewarding, and I truly value the opportunity to contribute to the success and advancement of our community.
What is your vision for the future of Siouxland?
My vision for Siouxland’s future centers on growing our community. By focusing on growth across multiple sectors—manufacturing, trade professions, technology, healthcare, and corporate jobs — while supporting locally owned businesses, we can build a thriving, diverse economy. A significant part of this vision is strengthening our education system and investing in local colleges, which will help retain graduates and foster a skilled workforce.
To attract younger residents and families, Siouxland should expand family-friendly events, support young professional networks, and invest in quality schools and daycare. Recent growth in local dining, shopping, and youth sports has boosted the economy—now it’s time to build on that momentum with long-term strategies for sustainable community growth.
What are you doing to make that happen?
Working at Sioux Honey Co-Op, a Sioux City staple for more than 100 years, has given me the opportunity to engage with local youth and educate them about careers and opportunities in the area. At Sioux Honey, we visit schools to discuss bees, honey production, and the activities that take place at our facility. I also leverage the company’s national reach to showcase Sioux City in our marketing, which can help attract new businesses and create additional job opportunities.
In addition to my work at Sioux Honey, I actively support local youth programs and school activities, ensuring I contribute to the development of our community’s young people. By participating in community events, shopping at small businesses, dining locally, and joining fundraisers, I’m helping to strengthen the community and make Sioux City a more attractive place for people to settle down and grow roots.
How can people help you make that happen?
Active participation in community events and school activities helps build a stronger, more connected Siouxland. Supporting local schools and prioritizing recent local graduates in hiring keeps young talent in the area and strengthens ties to the local economy. Investing in our youth, businesses, and events ensures long-term community growth—and it all starts with showing up and supporting local.
