Cue the Holiday Magic!

After the hustle and bustle of this summer’s exciting events, we’re ready to bring the holiday magic back to Downtown Sioux City. Whether you’re a long-time resident or a visitor, this season’s lineup of events will have something for everyone to enjoy.

Downtown for the Holidays IBEW Holiday Lighted Parade

This nighttime, lighted parade is a Sioux City staple and a great way to kick off the holiday season! Join us on Monday, November 25, to celebrate the tradition of lighting the tree with Santa.

This year, we’re partnering with the Sioux City Convention Center to provide designated accessible viewing areas and sensory-friendly spaces so everyone can enjoy the festivities.

In 2023, we welcomed a record of more than 60 floats, filling Historic Fourth Street with holiday cheer! To get involved with this year’s IBEW Holiday Lighted Parade, look at our website for the application opening on October 15.

Small Business Saturday

One of the many highlights of the holiday season is Small Business Saturday, a day to celebrate small businesses in our community. Plan to start your holiday shopping downtown on November 30.

When you shop at locally owned businesses, you can build relationships with the owners and employees that you get to visit time and again. Not to mention, shopping locally ensures that our community continues to thrive and grow. Fun Fact – American Express said U.S. consumers spent more than $17 billion at small, independent businesses and restaurants in 2023!

Watch our social media and website for the best ways to support downtown businesses on Small Business Saturday.

Holiday Storefront Decorating Competition

Think outside the window! Downtown businesses are invited to participate in this friendly storefront decorating competition for a good cause. When storefronts are fully decorated, you can vote for your favorite. The storefront with the most votes will receive a monetary donation to the Siouxland nonprofit of their choice. Businesses, keep an eye out for the application on October 15, and Siouxland, you can start casting your vote online on November 25.

Holy snowflakes, that’s a lot of holiday magic! We didn’t even mention Twelve Days of Giveaways, but you get the idea – Downtown is the place to be this holiday season. Keep up with these events and everything happening in Downtown Sioux City by heading to our website, signing up for our weekly event eblast, and following us on social media.
