We’re a nonprofit dedicated to helping downtown thrive. We work directly with property owners, business owners, developers, and community members to build a stronger, more connected community. By focusing on downtown’s unique needs, we can enhance the experiences of everything our district has to offer.
At our core, Downtown Partners acts as the communication hub for downtown businesses. We prioritize collaborating on shared needs, providing direct support, representing businesses in city processes, and helping businesses connect and grow with each other.
How We Help
Business Assistance. The Storefront Grant is designed to attract and retain commercial tenants while boosting downtown aesthetics. Downtown businesses and property owners can use up to $4,000 matching funds for new exterior projects like signage, outdoor dining and seating, safety and security, aesthetic upgrades, and sidewalk improvements.
Business Recruitment. The Rent Relief Program offers graduated rental assistance to new business owners within the downtown district. Working directly with property owners, we can provide up to 50% reduced rent for 6 months of a 36-month lease (up to $3,600).
Starting A Business. Whether you’re dreaming of opening a shop or already running one, the Small Business Owner’s Resource Guide is a comprehensive tool to guide you through the essential steps of starting and operating a business. This guide, a partnership between us, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and Iowa’s West Coast Initiative (IWCI), empowers you on your entrepreneurial journey.
Promoting Businesses. Our website (Downtownsiouxcity.com) is a one-stop shop for what’s happening downtown. Downtown business owners can create a business account and claim their business listing to manage their webpage. This is an excellent way for downtown businesses to promote services and products and spread the word about their events, which are included in a weekly event newsletter!
Events! Downtown Partners works alongside local organizations to help kickstart new annual events that bring energy and excitement to our district. When a new idea comes to the table, we provide hands-on support tailored to your event’s needs. The goal is to give events a strong foundation, then gradually step back as they become self-sustaining.
Resident engagement. Downtown living has increased substantially over the last five years. Those who call downtown home visit with us regularly to discuss the services, amenities, and outdoor environment, and keep up with changes and ideas.
Community Involvement. You are at the core of what we do. Community, Vision, and Environment Work Groups are the best way to start getting involved in shaping the future of downtown. Your passion and interest are what drive us forward, so reach out and be a part of the change you want to see.
