“There’s nothing to do in Sioux City.” You’ve probably heard it before. You might have even said it once or twice. Downtown would like to politely disagree. Summer in downtown is packed with live music, food trucks, street festivals, and brand-new events that make it surprisingly easy to fill your calendar and stay out a little later than you planned.
One of our favorite newcomers, First Fridays, returns for 2026 and is the perfect excuse to start exploring. Downtown businesses roll out limited-time deals, special promotions, and a few surprises that make wandering block to block the perfect start to your weekend.
Downtown LIVE! is the traditional outdoor concert series that kicks off the First Friday season on June 5th. Returning to its original home near the Roth Fountain at 4th and Virginia Streets, it promises new acts, fresh energy, and lively partnerships with the Historic 4th Street Association, Winnie’s, and Marto Brewing Co. Expect a crowd full of excitement, great music, and plenty of dancing in the street with a cold drink in hand. Admission is just $5 at the gate.
Hungry? Perfect timing!
Food Truck Fridays return June through August with a rotating lineup of Sioux City’s favorite mobile kitchens. Each Friday brings something new to try, making it one of the tastiest ways to explore downtown and meet up with friends. Due to some much-needed development near Pearl Street Park, the event will change locations this year. Keep an eye on social media for the big reveal for this and other tasty announcements.
A brand-new event is also debuting this summer. Runway Sioux City takes over 4th and Nebraska Streets on Saturday, June 13 at 2 p.m. Picture music blasting, glittering lights, and a runway set to impress right in the middle of downtown. Local boutiques will showcase stylish looks you can shop, vendors will line the street with products and services to browse, kids can jump into a posing contest, and a silent auction will add another layer of fun to the afternoon.
And that’s just the beginning.
Summer also brings longtime favorites like June Jam, Pride Fest, Hard Rock’s Battery Park concert series, GreekFest, RibFest, and more, yet to be announced.
Turns out, finding something to do downtown isn’t the challenge.
Choosing which event to check out first might be.
