What challenges have you experienced in Siouxland?

In Sioux City, starting as a college freshman and living far from home wasn’t the easiest. I knew what to expect, but I was still worried. However, I felt at ease getting to know and seeing people in the same boat as me.

How has Siouxland been welcoming? 

Sioux City has been welcoming in many ways. WITCC offers many events to help you connect with people. They have many resources that help us, like free tutoring, counseling, and healthcare. My college has made me feel very welcome, especially the people in Trio, Comet Class, and Clubs.

What do you want the people of Siouxland to know?

I want people in Siouxland to know that it genuinely feels like a sense of community here. We all have value and potential within us that we bring out in each other. May we continue to be and live the lives we are, because we have more of it to live!

En Sioux City, empezar la universidad y vivir lejos de casa no fue fácil. Sabía qué esperar, pero aun así estaba preocupada. Sin embargo, me sentí a gusto al conocer a otras personas que estaban en la misma situación que yo.

¿Cómo te ha acogido Siouxland?

Sioux City me ha acogido de muchas maneras. WITCC ofrece muchos eventos para conectar con otras personas. Cuentan con muchos recursos que nos ayudan, como tutorías gratuitas, asesoramiento y atención médica. Mi universidad me ha hecho sentir muy bienvenida, especialmente las personas de Trio, Comet Class y los clubes estudiantiles.

¿Qué quieres que la gente de Siouxland sepa?

Quiero que la gente de Siouxland sepa que aquí se siente una verdadera comunidad. Todos tenemos valor y potencial dentro de nosotros, y nos ayudamos mutuamente a desarrollarlo. ¡Que sigamos siendo quienes somos y viviendo nuestras vidas, porque aún nos queda mucho por vivir!
