After soaking up the summer sun, we’re ready to swap sandals for scarves and welcome the cozy warmth and wonder of the holiday season in Downtown Sioux City!
Downtown for the Holidays IBEW Holiday Lighted Parade
The IBEW Holiday Lighted Parade is downtown’s official kickoff to the season! This dazzling nighttime tradition fills Historic 4th Street with lights, music, and holiday cheer. This year, the parade will be captivating audiences on Monday, November 24. And yes, Santa will be back to help us light the tree and launch the season in style!
In 2024, we set a new record with 80 beautifully lit floats, surpassing the 2023 total of 68. We also introduced accessible viewing areas and sensory-friendly spaces in partnership with the Sioux City Convention Center and Siouxland District Health, ensuring everyone could enjoy the celebration.
Mark your calendars and start crafting your float ideas to get involved with this year’s IBEW Holiday Lighted Parade. Applications will open in October.

Small businesses are the heart and soul of Downtown Sioux City. They bring the charm and the sense of community that make our downtown feel like home. Our businesses are where memories are made, ideas come to life, and neighbors become friends.
Small Business Saturday is a national event promoting our local businesses. It’s a meaningful reminder to support local businesses and shop small, not just this holiday season, but all year long. Saturday, November 29, is the day to be downtown with more than 70 local shopping destinations ready to help you check everyone off your list and kick off your holiday shopping.

Holiday Storefront Decorating Competition
Who said a little friendly competition ever hurt anyone? The Holiday Storefront Decorating Competition actually benefits a Siouxland nonprofit, and it enhances the beauty of downtown during the holiday season.
Downtown businesses are invited to join this cheerful challenge, transforming their storefronts into one-of-a-kind winter scenes. Once the windows are fully decorated, the community can vote for their favorite. The storefront with the most votes will receive a monetary donation to the Siouxland nonprofit of their choice. Don’t have a business downtown but still want to participate? We will find you a storefront to compete for your favorite nonprofit. Keep an eye out for the application in October. Siouxland, you can start casting your vote online on November 24.
